The Firefly Planisphere is a simple rotary map which can be set to show the night sky for any time and date.
The the planisphere to learn and locate the constellations, numerous deep-sky objects, the planets, and more. Identify the magnitudes of major stars. Locate meteor showers, includes a handy date reference on the back.
Unlike less expensive planispheres, this model actually shows you where along the ecliptic the planets are located. Simply identify the correct table on the back of the planisphere, cross-reference the date and location in degrees, and then locate the corresponding position along the outer-most circle. Then draw a line up from that point towards the centre of the wheel until it crosses the hashed ecliptic line.
The outer rim marks off the degrees (for locating planets) and dates, the inner wheel represents the time. Simply rotate the wheel to align any date and time, and the map updates to reflect the correct sky.
