Free Star Parties

The Ottawa Royal Astronomical Society proudly presents their star party calendar for 2015. These events are free for all ages. Come out and share the wonders of the universe with knowledgeable astronomers. Many telescopes will be set up, trained on various astronomical treasures.

Star parties are weather permitting. Red flashlights only! Star time: 8:00pm

Star parties are held at the Carp Library / Diefenbunker, a short 28 minute drive from Focus Scientific. Map and driving directions to the Carp Library.

Free Telescope Course - International Astronomy Day

Passionate about the world around you, but don't know where to start? Come spend five hours with our great friends Paul and Rob, as they introduce curious families to general astronomy, and offer useful observing tips, and instructionals on how to set up and use amateur equipment. Towards the end there will be a one-on-one session to help answer any lingering questions.

Our annual astronomy course is sure to please.

Feel free to bring your equipment for setup outside the front door. If raining, equipment may be can setup in foyer.

  • Event date: Saturday April 25th 2015 - event date confirmed!
  • Event time: 10am till 3pm
  • Event location: Canada Aviation and Space Museum, 11 Aviation Parkway, Ottawa
  • No registration required
  • No admission cost except for parking
  • Evening observing at 9pm - weather permitting
