Standard solar filters let you see sun spots and granulation on the solar disc, but there's more to sun-watching that's more exciting.
The Coronado Personal Solar Telescope (PST) is a step above standard solar filters. These are the economical way to see breathtaking solar flares, prominences, solar filaments, plage and sun spots.
The PST is designed to view in the Hydrogen-Alpha (Hα) region of the spectrum, which lies at 656.28nm wavelength (6562.8 Angstroms), with a bandwidth of <0.1nm (<1.0 Angstrom). It also features a built-in tuner for minute spectral adjustments of the etalon filter, allowing for contrast adjustment for observing prominences.
The built-in sun-finder makes centring the sun a snap. Simply aim the scope at the Sun, and centre the sun-ball on the ground glass projection window.
Mounting the PST is also a breeze, with the 1/4 20 TPI standard tripod threads on the bottom of the rectangular housing. This is suitable for use with photographic tripods, piggyback mounts, or attaching to dovetail bars used with many common equatorial mounts.
The PST is the perfect alternative to carting out large, bulky telescopes, and you'll see more too.
