Celestron Oceana 8x42 Monocular with Compass

Whether you're hiking or sailing, the Celestron Oceana 8x42 monocular with built-in compass will keep your course true.

The highly versatile Celestron Oceana monocular offers a rubber grip to provide a secure hold. The long eye relief eyepiece works with or without eyeglasses.

The integrated compass can be viewed while looking through the monocular. The compass is illuminated from natural light, and can be augmented in low light through the use of a red flashlight (sold separately) aimed at the white dome atop the monocular. The integrated reticule allows determining rough distance of a subject for which the height is known (mast of a sailboat, etc.)

When on the water, high magnification is undesirable, because it magnifies the movement of the boat, as well as that of the user. It is difficult to track a scene that moves quickly. It's better to see well, then see big in this case, and 8x is generally is the highest useable magnification on boats, without employing expensive image stabilization technology.
