Meade's Series 6000 Focal Reducer/Field Flattener is a fully multi-coated, 3 element design to help the astro-photographer capture wide field photographs of the night sky with the 80mm aperture Series 6000 APO refractor. It is designed to reduce the telescope's effective focal length and thus expand the field of view by 25%.
This focal length reduction results in a photographic speed increase from f/6 to f/4.8, brightening the image by 62%. This new Reducer/Flattener will also optically flatten the image and thus deliver pin-point stars to the edge of your photographic frame. The large aperture delivers a fully corrected image circle of 39mm, and keeps vignetting to a minimum.
With most refractors, larger deep-sky objects are too large to be nicely framed within the field of view, and those of very low surface brightness require longer exposure times. Meade's Field Flattener addresses both issues by reducing the focal length to 0.8x, thereby increasing your telescope's field of view and increasing image brightness.
Easily attach your camera with the included M48 x 0.75mm O.D. thread. Requires an additional
adapter for your camera, available separately.
