Phase centering telescope for the Motic BA310 microscope.
Inserts into an eyepiece holder, and is used to align the phase contrast annular aperture over the condenser lens with the phase plate in the objective.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To be used with EC-H Plan Phase objectives.
Phase contrast microscopy utilizes the phase differences arising from light scattered by transparent or partially transparent specimens, rendering these otherwise invisible phase differences as differences in intensity. This very considerably boosts contrast and the discrimination of the smallest details, all without the need to stain and fix specimens, thus permitting to study living cells, for example.
