Optical telescope collimation is the alignment of the lenses and/or mirrors to bring the starlight to an accurate focus.
Most Newtonian reflecting telescopes require collimation straight out of the factory-sealed box. Most telescopes will drift out of alignment due to hard knocks, shocks and drops. Severe misalignment results in no light reaching the focal plane. Slight misalignment result in an image that lacks clarity, producing an inferior image.

All Newtonian primary mirrors receive centre-marks (if not already marked). We can also centre-mark secondary mirrors upon request.
Price does not include repairs to equipment or modifications required to bring poorly-manufactured, damaged or abused telescopes into a collimatable state. Our regular repair rates apply in these cases on top of our collimation rates.
