The MallinCam VRC-12 optical tube is a true dual hyperbolic mirror Ritchey-Chrétien system. It eliminates coma, resulting in symmetrically round star images across the field of view, thus making the R-C a system of choice by professionals for astrometry, or the measurement of stellar positions.
The VRC-12 optical tube utilizes Quartz primary and secondary mirrors for low thermal expansion and hence more rapid equilibriation. Facilitating this are three built-in 12 VDC cooling fans installed in the rear. Optics are multi-layer dielectric coated, both mirrors having 99% reflectivity. Both the primary and secondary mirrors can be collimated.
The MallinCam VRC-12 optical tube includes a large deluxe 3" Crayford style focuser with 2" and 1.25" adapters included. This high precision, dual speed, 10:1 focuser makes it easy to focus and lock the focuser in place. The focuser rotates 360 degrees for image framing, and offers variable friction adjustment on the focuser action. Additional focuser spacer rings are included to allow you to reach focus with any imaging cameras or other optical accessories such as diagonals, focal reducers, or Barlows.
This scope comes complete with two Losmandy "D-style" dovetail bars on the top and underside, attached with two tube rings.
