The MallinCam VRC-6 optical tube is a true dual hyperbolic mirror Ritchey-Chrétien system. It eliminates coma, resulting in symmetrically round star images across the field of view, thus making the R-C a system of choice by professionals for astrometry, or the measurement of positions.
The VRC-6 optical tube utilizes BK-7 optical glass primary and secondary mirrors, each having aluminum coatings with 93% reflectivity. Both the primary and secondary mirrors can be collimated. The system is fully baffled against stray light, by use of seven knife-edge baffle rings in the main tube.
The MallinCam VRC-6 optical tube includes a large deluxe 2" Crayford style focuser with 2" to 1.25" adapter included. This high precision dual speed focuser makes it easy to focus and lock the focuser in place. Additional focuser spacer rings are included to allow you to reach focus with any CCD cameras or other optical accessories such as diagonals, focal reducers, or Barlows.
This scope comes complete with one Vixen style dovetail bar on the underside for attaching to your mount. The compact size and low weight of the VRC-6 make it ideal for grab-and-go, or even as a finder scope on a large observatory instrument.
