The Tele Vue Paracorr Type 2 Coma Corrector was developed in 2010 specifically for the new breed of fast scopes (f/3 to f/4). Why is this important? Large aperture Dobsonians with large f/ratios often require step ladders to reach the eyepiece. With the introduction of the Paracorr Type 2, ladderless Dobsonians are possible. It can make an f/3 telescope act like an f/12 without Paracorr.
Fast scopes suffer from Coma (Comatic Abberation), showing up as stars that appear like comets flying towards the center of the field. The faster the scope, the greater the Coma. The Paracorr is a Coma eater.
Simply slip the Paracorr into the focuser just like a Barlow. The two-element fully multi-coated corrector intensifies stars without adding chromatic abberation or spherical abberation. The result is a field of view that is visually stunning, and brighter. The Paracorr increases the magnification by about 15%.
The Paracorr features an integrated tunable top so you can dial in the right amount of correction required.
The Paracorr Visual Coma Corrector can be used with 1.25" or 2" eyepieces thanks to its included reducer adapter. It will not vignette, even a 31mm Nagler, thanks to employing the largest lens possible in the design.
It can also be used photographically with DSLR and CCD cameras. The Paracorr Type 2 allows separating the optical assembly from the Tunable Top and using it with Tele Vue imaging system components to permit use with SLR and CCD cameras. APS size formats 27mm diameter are recommended to minimize field vignetting.
