Refractor aficionados will love the convenience of the Tele Vue TV-76. This APO doublet refractor is the perfect blend of aperture and instrument size for grab-and-go astronomy, and nature observation.
The rich-field TV-76 delivers jewel-like stars, with up to 5.5° true field of view when used with the Tele Vue 55mm 2" eyepiece (sold separately). When using the highest useful magnifications, planetary and stellar detail and colors will appear natural, thanks to the Nagler-designed doublet APO lens assembly and 2" Everbrite star diagonal (sold separately).
APO - we've used it elsewhere on our website, but what does it mean? Inexpensive Achromatic refractors produce images with varying degrees of false color (chromatic abberation). Chromatic "halos" around the limb of Planets or birds are undesirable, and lead to poor saturation of colors, and a loss of contrast. Apochromatic refractors produce little-to-no false color, by using exotic extra-low dispersion glass and carefully engineered design. The results are spectacularly clean, crisp images.
Tele Vue's legendary telescopes are best-in-class, and truly exquisite. The attention to every detail, from producing the highest-quality optics to the fit and finish, and you'll know why you must have one of their scopes in your collection.
One of the most expensive features of good optics is contrast, and the more, the better. The highly optimized anti-reflection coatings, precision-ground edge-blackened lenses will deliver the goods.
These scopes are also available with a White painted tube, please request a quote from us.
